The one-liner
Description
Full-contact medieval combat is a real sport. Called buhurt (from the Old French béhourd), it's fought in steel armour with blunted weapons, in organised leagues, by real athletes across the world — and until now, it has never had a game.
Armored Combat Team Manager puts you in charge of a club. Scout and sign fighters across five weight classes, train them against their potential ceilings, forge seven pieces of armour per fighter across four materials, and set depth charts for the sport's real category formats — from one-on-one duels and profights up to twelve-a-side melees. Matches play out live on the arena floor, fighter by fighter, with a play-by-play that names who did what to whom. Then take your club up a tournament ladder of group stages, brackets and podium finishes.
The game is built fair by design: every price is a fixed price, there are no loot boxes or gacha mechanics of any kind, ads are optional and permanently removable, and everything in the game can be earned with in-game gold. Seasons follow the calendar month — no countdown-timer psychology.
Features
- The first buhurt game on any store — built with feedback from real fighters in the community
- Full club management: roster, training, potential ceilings, armour forging with matched-set bonuses, depth charts
- A live arena view — melees resolve fighter by fighter at 1× to 10× speed, with formation, engagement and knockdown all visible, or swap to classic text play-by-play in Settings
- Shareable fight codes: send a code and someone else can watch the same bout play out
- Authentic category formats and Olympic-style medal scoring
- Tournament ladder with group stages, brackets and podium ceremonies
- Calendar-month Battle Pass seasons, daily quests, achievements, weekly medal-point leaderboards
- Fifteen heraldry banner sets to earn, buy, or unlock in events — founder banners for early supporters are never sold
- Eight languages, complete down to the round-by-round fight commentary
- No loot boxes, ever. Fixed prices. Optional, removable ads. Fully playable offline.
About the sport
Buhurt is practised worldwide under organisations including Buhurt League, IMCF, and HMB-affiliated leagues, with national teams, international championships, and weight-classed competition. Fighters wear historically-inspired steel armour and compete with blunted weapons under strict safety rules. The game is an independent work by fans of the sport and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any league.
History
BonkWorks Studios is a Texas indie studio founded by Pete Moe. Armored Combat Team Manager began with a simple observation: the most spectacular combat sport on Earth had zero games. The design goal from day one was a management sim that treats buhurt the way Football Manager treats football — as a real sport deserving real depth — at mobile scale, and with monetisation players can respect.

Q&A for busy writers
Yes. Search "buhurt" on any video platform and clear your afternoon.
No — it's an independent game about the sport, made by fans, with input from community fighters during development.
Free game. Fixed-price IAP ($0.99–$99.99), optional rewarded ads, a one-time ad-removal purchase, a monthly battle pass. No loot boxes, no gacha, no consumable-currency roulette. All progression earnable free.
No. It's single-player against CPU clubs. That's a design position, not a missing feature — it's why there's nothing to pay-to-win against.
Manager-sim players who want a fresh sport, combat-sport fans burned out on pay-to-win, and every single person who has ever watched armoured fighters collide and thought "I could coach that."
